Earlex Ltd. - UK. Manufacturers of power tools for home and
professional decorating and cleaning markets. Includes wallpaper

Initial production began in an 1100 sq ft building at Merrow near
Guildford, employing 3 part time and 1 full time member of staff.
After only 5 months production had to move to a 4000 sq ft unit at
Godalming. The SS100 was already proving popular and listings had
been gained with 3 of the UK DIY superstores. Exports to France,
Norway and Australia began in the second year of operation. Turnover
for year two was nearly £1million.
An additional factory of 6,000 sq ft was added in September 1989
when the SS50 model was introduced as an additional wallpaper
stripper. Exports to Germany, Holland, USA, Spain and New Zealand
began in 1990. In May 1990 the Steama Plus Steam Cleaning Kit was
launched and an additional 6,000 sq ft factory was added to enable
production of this product to commence.
The company philosophy is to design, manufacture and market
innovative rather than "me too" products with our main category
being decorative power tools and our secondary category being
powered cleaning products.
New product development is one of the major strengths of Earlex
with a NPD team who set themselves the highest standards to ensure
that the product attains the correct mix of quality, features and
price.
Our products are marketed under the Earlex brand and a number of
other brands world-wide.
In the UK our DIY products are distributed though most major DIY
retailers, DIY independents and also a number of mail order
channels. In export markets the distribution is similar.
