Leonards was founded in Gosport, England
in the mid-eighties to
produce seasoning mixes for the small meat processor and High Street
Butcher. The concept was to produce a mix containing all the
ingredients required to produce a good quality sausage or burger,
except for meat and water. This was packaged in sizes to enable a
complete pack to be used in a single batch. A finished product of
consistent quality, in both taste and appearance, was thus achieved by
the elimination of operator errors in weighing.
Since Leonards moved to larger premises,
situated in the heart of the
Sussex countryside in the early nineties, expansion has continued
apace both in terms of size and more importantly in product
capability. In 1997 we moved into our new, and long awaited, Product
Development Block which enabled us to perform in-house New Product
Development on behalf of our clients.
Our development capability covers all
area of interest for the food
manufacturer from the supply of herb and spice blends, through
seasonings, sauces and gravies, to complete custom recipe dishes for
the meat, fish and vegetarian sectors.
Leonards are now a growing player in
International Food Manufacturing
Industries, but, As a family run business, we have never forgotten our
roots. We still are as concerned for the client requiring 20Kg batches
as we are for the Majors.
