Elafos - Producer and distributor of a wide range of certified
organically grown foods.
Since 1992, the year in which Élafos S.L. was founded, it has
produced, distributed and exported solely "Ecological Agriculture"
products according to the E.U. control system regulation 2092/91. At
the present time its production range covers all types of foodstuffs.
Currently ÉLAFOS groups together a large number of professional
farmers scattered throughout the country but based particularly in:
Andalusia, the Community of Valencia, Extremadura, the Canary Islands,
Aragón and Catalonia. Each is specialised in the production of fruits,

In ELAFOS we see ourselves as a living body, a concept that is
represented by our symbolic deer (élafos in Greek) which is related to
the tree of life given the similarity between the deer's antlers and
the branches of a tree. This is a symbol of cyclic renovation and
growth related to the sky and sunlight. It is an animal that
symbolises elevation and one to which both Greeks and Romans
attributed mystical qualities and an instinctive ability to recognise
medicinal plants. Beauty, grace and agility as the messenger of the
gods are all physical characteristics associated with the deer.
All of those who form part of the ÉLAFOS structure, from the producer
and the field assessor to the distributor, are united by the same idea
and the same clarity in relationships and share the same point of

Whole Earth - Manufacturer of organic foods certified with the Soil

Whole Earth was founded in 1967 with the opening of ‘Seed’, a
pioneering vegetarian, organic and macrobiotic restaurant in West
London. Dedicated to spreading the word about healthy eating and
organic food, Seed was a popular hangout in London’s burgeoning
alternative scene. With regular customers from London’s trendsetters
of pop music, media and fashion, our restaurant flourished and the
macrobiotic diet, which initially enjoyed fad status, rapidly put down
deeper roots. In 1969 we opened ‘Ceres Grain Shop’, the first of the
new generation of natural food stores and by 1971 we were supplying
organic and macrobiotic food to similar shops that were opening all
over Britain and in Europe. We developed the original sources for
organic brown rice and were the first millers of organic wholewheat
flour. With the first organic wholemeal bakery, the Whole Earth peanut
butter factory and the first no sugar added jams, we fed and led the
movement towards a healthier lifestyle that developed over the next
few decades. We didn’t just pioneer new food sources and products, we
also spread the ideas that became the foundation of the movement
towards healthier lifestyles. Our groundbreaking magazine “Seed, The
Journal of Organic Living” was the main source of inspiration,
information and new ideas for this movement. Back issues are now a
collector’s item.
The 1960s were the decade of discovering and exploring alternatives,
the 1970s were the ‘natural foods’ years and the 1980s were the
‘healthy eating’ years. The 1990s saw the rocketing growth of organic
food and this is where Whole Earth led the way yet again. Working
closely with organic producers we helped develop sources of the
organic raw materials that have been so important to the development
of high quality organic products. Working closely with the Soil
Association we played a significant role in ensuring that the highest
organic standards were applied throughout the food supply chain,
giving consumers the confidence that is the foundation of the organic
food market.
Whole Earth continues to set the highest standards and to bring
innovative, wholesome and delicious organic products to the ever-

Yeo Valley Organic Company Ltd. - British manufacturer of organic
yogurt.
Yeo Valley has been producing yogurt since as long ago as 1974.
All these years of know-how were put to good use in 1993 when we first
began producing organic yogurts with organic milk supplied by The
Organic Milk Suppliers' Cooperative Ltd.(look out for their logo on
our own and others' organic dairy products).
Our very first product (an organic natural yogurt), is the best
selling natural yogurt in the UK today. Our strawberry and apricot
organic yogurts are also two of the best selling of their kind.
The success of our products from the outset soon meant that we needed
more space in order to meet demand. We decided to establish a new
company - one dedicated to Organic agriculture, Organic farmers and
Organic products.
The Yeo Valley Organic Company Ltd was born in 1996.
We bought a high quality dairy at Cannington, Somerset, and moved our
cherished organic products to their new home. Our dairy is set in 28
acres of land at the foot of the Quantock hills, with plenty of room
for expansion. Our original Organic Wholemilk range now has a family
