Die FRACTAL AG is a growing, R&D oriented company which concentrates
its business activities on the surface and coating technology. Its
core competences are the structuring of surfaces and the metallisation
of plastic foils.

The technology of the FRACTAL AG is that,
to modify plastic foils
solid state physically by using most modern machining procedures. With
it, unequalled features of the foil are generated and, as a result,
many innovative applications for this foil are possible.
This special technology is about the creation and afterwards the
structuring of so-called latent ion tracks in or on the plastic foil.
The surface relief which arise from this technology makes the
metallisation (e. g. with aluminium, copper, nickel etc.) possible by
using different vacuum technical and other processes.
At present the following products are
launched on the basis of this
technology:
Capacitor anode foil FRACAP® - offers manufacturers of aluminium
electrolyte capacitors the possibility to minimize the components at
the same capacity, to reach application advantages and to save costs.
basic material for flexible PCBs FRAFLEX®- it is an adhesiveless,
copper coated material with a drastical improved temperature stability
and peel strength (mainly used in the PCB and electronic branch).
Surface modified polymer foil for every application where a special
surface (e. g. for printability, glueability) or other special
features are profitable.
Subject to special problems, different
coating services, order history
for surfaces or coatings as well as projecting and construction of
vacuum technical coating equipment are offered by the FRACTAL AG and
its subsidiary, the IST-Ionen Strahl Technologie GmbH.

Ionotec Ltd - Specializing in the manufacturing of ion-conductive
ceramics and in electrochemical research for applications in
batteries, fuel cells, sensors and electrochemical reactors.
Ionotec is a research and development company serving a number of
major clients in those areas of materials science which are related
particularly to electrochemistry. We also manufacture ceramic
materials, particularly ion-conductive ceramics which find application
as membranes in electrochemical systems such as batteries, fuel cells,
sensors and chemical converters. These include cation-conductive beta
aluminas, oxide ion conductors, and electron-conductive ceramics
including doped cerium, titanium and zirconium oxides.
A further area of materials development is in conductive coatings
which is aimed more at electrodes for batteries or fuel cells. We
have facilities for producing various types of ceramic coating using
controlled deposition, hot pressing up to 1300°C, pressureless
sintering up to 1700°C, and atmosphere-controlled surface film growth
techniques up to 1100°C. That means that for a number of material
combinations of interest we can find a viable way of producing good
quality adherent coatings with specific electrical properties.
We also have facilities for machining ceramics and for bonding
ceramic-to-ceramic, ceramic-to-metal and metal-to-metal combinations
in various shapes and sizes.
Ionotec has a wealth of expertise in these areas, a unique flexibility
