We are the first company to offer this
type of tour. You will start
your trip from Augustow and finish in Jasionowo, on a newly created
camp site on a organic farm The campsite is located next to the red
marshes, it has the highest population of Elk in Poland. It is possible
to view these large mammals from the viewing tower at Kopytkowo. You
can also hire bikes at the farm. The campsite is called Zuraw (Crane).
We have already catered for Austrians, Germans, Swiss and English. All
the visitors were very pleased with the peace and quiet of the area.
Biebrza national park
The park is Poland's largest over sixty
thousand hectares, it was
created in 1993. Its uniqueness can be attributed to the fact that the
Biebrza river runs along its natural course and has not been interfered
with by man. The habitat can be best described as wetland /marshes.
This provides an ideal site for many species of nesting and migratory
birds. A paradise for ornithologists. Due to spring flooding, there are
a series of fens and wetlands which have a resident population of rare
species such as the aquatic warbler, black tailed godwit, ruff, black
grouse, great snipe, great curlew, marsh owl and numerous others. Over
270 species have been observed in this area, including 200 nesting
species. One of the most majestic and numerous birds is the crane, this
can be easily heard and spotted most evenings.
From a historical perspective this area has seen many a bloody battle
with conflicts between the Poles, Lithuanians, Russians, Prussians and
Germans. One of the most enduring momentos of this past is the huge
Tsarist forts of the nineteenth century. Older people still bear the
scars of this turbulent history.
The area has one of the lowest population densities in Europe, it is a
landscape scattered with small villages by people who work the land
using traditional methods, the horse is still widely used.
The area is paradise for cyclists, ranging from open fields full of
storks nests to ancient forests with huge pines and large mammals .
These include Wolf, wild boar, beaver, otter, elk, red squirrel. There
is very little traffic , so no noise and no pollution. However travel
by water is a unique experience and those who like isolation and

Shaggy designs - UK manufacturer of decked canoe C1 playboat designs
for whitewater freestyle rodeo moves.
Shaggy designs is a small company based in London UK which designs and
builds custom play decked canoes (C1). The boats are designed to surf
and perform freestyle moves on standing waves both on rivers and in the
sea.
The C1 style of paddling is distinct from kayaking in that the paddler
kneels in the craft and uses a single bladed paddle. The center of
gravity of the paddler is raised decreasing stability but making the
paddler weight throw much more effective.
Now based in London Shaggy designs boats can be seen at Hurley and

Svenska Trakanoter - Makes 3 models of wood and canvas canoes. Makes
paddles and poles. Classes in canoebuilding, paddlemaking and
Northwoods canoeing.
Swedish wooden canoes have been building wood & canvas canoes and made
paddles and poles since 1984. Canoe designs are traditional and include
the 14´ solo tripper, the 16´ Prospector and the 18´ Guide. Paddles are
made of native swedish woods and include models suited for Northwood's-
paddling. We also teach classes in canoe building, paddle making and
Northwood's canoeing.
