Gees - Manufacture and repair wooden seats and fittings for sprint
racing kayaks. Also offer training courses.
Started the business in August 1968. Undertaking work in joinery
cabinet making and shopfitting, also there was a small demand for
veneer boat and paddle repairs, leading me into work in canoeing. In
1969 Mike Clark of Canoeing Magazine suggested I make slalom paddles
and within two years I had a range of paddles. Models such as Ace,
Triton, Champion and Leda all slalom blades and Regal, Ardor and Impact
in racing. Over the next few years we made thousands of paddles, and
exported around the world to Australia, USA, Canada, Denmark, Norway,
Holland and Belgium. In 1980 we started making wooden seats and
fittings for racing kayaks.
In recent years concentrating on these items along with specials for
the trade.

Lance Mitchell has been trained by World Champions David and Peggy
Mitchell of Mitchell Paddles, a very successful family run business in
the United States. Lance has specialised, and is fully qualified, in
all facets of kayak paddle manufacturing and design.
'Mitchell Blades' is a kayak paddle manufacturer based in the Northwest
region supplying high quality paddles to enthusiasts and retail outlets
throughout the UK.
All Mitchell Blades are produced from the most advanced technological
materials and engineered to machine accuracy. Diolen is used for
resilient impact strength and perdurable edges. Nylon is also used for
end caps to help prevent wear, to strengthen and to reinforce the tips.
They are mainly constructed from selected fibreglass and bonded
together with superior epoxy resins. The blades are compressed in a
mould, which gives them a brilliant high gloss finish. The paddles are
strong and durable, but light in weight and shaped to provide you with
optimum control. Their exceptionally high quality designs will deliver
the feel in the water that you need.
