Carol Naylor - UK. Design and manufacture of machine embroidered
textile wall hangings and framed works for public and private
interiors.
I make machine embroidered textile wall hangings and framed works for
interiors that are suitable for both public and private venues.
I work directly onto painter's canvas using a variety of threads, and
sometimes embedding other materials and fibres. The continuous heavy
stitching can cause the base fabric to distort and these are qualities
I like to exploit particularly when working on a larger scale.
I use fine detailed drawing with the needle, as well as larger gestural
movements within my work, a combination that provides me with a
painterly approach to textile art. My work is very tactile, and I
prefer to leave larger pieces unframed so that the public can interact
with it more directly.
I live and work from my home based studio in Chichester, West Sussex,
in England, and have exhibited in many venues in the UK and abroad.
I have carried out both public and private commissions, which include
two for St Richard's Hospital Chichester. Numerous private collectors
in Europe, USA, Canada, Israel and New Zealand have purchased work.
Collectors of my work include public and private collections in
Portugal and the USA, a solicitors firm at Abbotsworthy, Winchester,
and several notable private European collections.
Work can be purchased direct or studio visits can be arranged.
Commissions are welcomed and I have a particular interest in Art in
Hospitals and in working from museum collections.

Heirlooms.uk.com was set up by experienced creative artist and graphic
designer, Geoff Perkin, probably best known for his high profile
designs and images for large corporations such as London Transport,
Faberge, British Rail and The Lord Mayor's Show for the Corporation of
London.
Teamed with his wife, Lin Gomm, an equally experienced artist in the
field of textiles, they design and produce unique, personalised
cushions, ring cushions, shawls and decorative pictures using words and
images you provide. Commemorate a birth, wedding, birthday,
anniversary, special event, person etc - or introduce a tastefully
created element of personalisation, a family name, initials, crest,
photograph or other images into your interior furnishings.
More recently the service has been expanded to include heirloom
portrait pictures which are created individually using a combination of
both traditional hand drawn and state of the art computer based skills.
We work personally on every order we receive, so the quality is very
high.
From initial design, to the finished product and delivery to you, our

As past graduates in embroidered textiles (MA) and in art and design

Mikos VSA - Greece. Design and manufacture of curtains, upholstery
drafts, drapes and draperies for retail and wholesale.
1970 - Vassilis Mikos founds the "V.Mikos and Co " Company, based on a
double floor store of about 250 square meters, at 5 Kapnikareas str. in
the centre of Athens. The collection consists of various women dresses'
textiles, everything imported, mainly from America.
1973 - Curtains is the new product for Mikos company, although the
specific market, at this period of time tends to be highly competitive.
1980 - The complete adoption of Mikos company by the public makes an
extention of the initial store place quite necessary. The chance is
grabbed by the founder of the company and an extension concerning 250
square meters more space at Kapnikareas str, takes place.
1981 - The neeeds for additional storage space and the capability of
larger investments in fixed and current assets lead to the creation of
a company owned building (with its own car parking) of about 1200
square meters space in Kallithea suburb, right next to the railway
station.
1985 - The company decides to concentrate its investments and
strategies in the market of curtains and upholstery fabrics and leave
the market of women dresses' textiles.
1990 - In the storage space of Kallithea, a retailing outlet is
created, occupying 3 floors of the whole building. By this way, Mikos
company lessens the distance of the store to the residents of the
southern suburbs in Athens. In the summer of the same year, the first
retailing outlet in the centre of Athens is fully renovated, new
technologies and fantastic decorations are implemented. A 20 years old
store aquires a unique elegance!
1992 - The creation of a stock-house at Eolou str., very close to the
office of the company, is the next strategic movement of Mikos Company.
Products of an older fashion are sold in a lower price and attract
increased attention.
1994 - Mikos company decides to pay a much greater attention to the
wholesaling network. A special emphasis is laid up to the organisation
and structure of the system that will support a suchlike strategic
movement. The approach of new retailers in the market, the winning of
their trust ,the presentation of new, elegant and flexible decorative
ideas and the creation of a credible and consistent image for the
company, become the key directions that determine the function, the
operation of Mikos company. This philosophy is widely accepted and very
soon Mikos company acquires a leading position in the market of
curtains and upholstery fabrics. The network becomes larger and larger,
customers do enjoy the collaboration, image is built in a steady rate.
2001 - The moment for the parallel and dynamic promotion of the
retailing sector, after a few year crisis, has come for Mikos company.
Although the two networks are differenent, the needs and expectations
remain the same: new decorative solutions, unlimited emthousiasm,
credibility, professional perception, consistency, service after sales.
A special attention is paid to the decoration of the stores -points of
distribution-which will make the customer feel more than ever the
beauty and the majesty of an elegant design.

Pat Giddens - UK. Custom design and manufacture of soft furnishings,
curtains and blinds for home interiors, with woollen, cotton and linen
fabrics.
The family business has its roots in the early decades of the 20th
century, when Herbert Giddens moved to Lincoln and established an
upholstery and soft furnishing business. He was later joined by his son
Reginald, who in-turn was joined by his own son Maurice. Throughout his
50 years in business, Maurice Giddens built up a highly respectable
reputation as an Interior Designer, with an impressive clientele. In
her own business Pat has maintained her father’s reputation, producing
