B&F Technik Vertriebs GmbH - German manufacturer of the FK-series
lightplanes, pictures and description of the production line and a
glance into projects in planning.
The B&F Technik Vertriebs GmbH company is active in the field of civil
aviation. It concentrates on the development, sale and maintenance of
motor-driven lightweight aircraft. Our partner company in Poland
supplies the main frames of the B&F–designed aircraft, whereas final
assembly and quality assurance are carried out in the headquarters in
Speyer. As the production of sport planes is carried out in a
relatively small series and the planes are also 100% hand-made, this
division of labor is exemplary for the sector. The manufactured
products are delivered not only within Germany but also to five further
European countries as well as many other companies all over the world.
The export figures for the past three years show a continuous growth of
sales.
B&F was founded in 1990 by managing shareholders Dirk Breitkreuz and
Peter Funk. Headquarters at this time were in Hofheim / Taunus. Both
partners were students until 1995, so that in the first three years
only small numbers of planes went into production. When Dirk Breitkreuz
left the company in 1995, the headquarters were moved to Speyer. Here
it was possible to rent premises in the DASA plant so that the company
was located at only a short distance from the airport in Speyer. At
first, the FK 9 plane developed by Otto und Peter Funk was produced and
sold. In the meantime, this plane has become one of the most widely
sold light aircraft in Germany and Europe. Since 1997, another model,
the FK 12, has been in serial production and in 1999, the FK14 model
was added.
In the airframe manufacturing plant, a qualified staff of 45 people
presently works on the production of 4-5 machines per month. Both plant
and staff are certified and profit from their long years of experience
in the maintenance and production of motorized aircraft and gliders.
All materials used in production are purchased in Germany and meet the
requirements of the German aviation standard.
Seven members of staff are busy in the Speyer headquarters taking care
of final assembly, fittings, quality assurance as well as delivery and
customer services. All our products are also developed here in these
headquarters.

Cosmos - Manufacturer of a range of trikes, microlights, paramotors,
and ultralight aircrafts, also wings, accessories, instruments, and
services.
The microlight owes its origin to hang-gliding. The first American-
built delta wings appeared in ski resorts in the French Alps in 1973.
In the years between 1973 and 1980 hang-gliding caught on in a big way
first in Europe and then throughout the world.
Among the manufacturers springing up in France was a company called La
Mouette which quickly established itself as the world’s leading
constructor.
Over the years spectacular improvements were made to performance, and
then one day someone had the idea of adding an engine - much as the
first aviators had done many years before. The top management of La
Mouette asked Renaud Guy to set up a unit for the production of “ultra-
light motorised gliders”.
Cosmos was founded in March 1982 and began to manufacture single-seater
craft.
The company proved highly successful despite the presence of a plethora
of private constructors.
For towing purposes, it very soon became clear that there was a
pressing need to come up with an aircraft possessing the same sort of
performance and flight characteristics as the delta wing itself.
Eventually the breakthrough was provided by Louis Darlet and the Cosmos
team who developed a complete towing method by microlight.
International hang-gliding teams were prompt to acquire this Cosmos
“tug” which had sufficient power and output to act as a two-seater or
to tow two wings at the same time.
This episode marked the beginning of Cosmos’s reputation at
international level and was followed by 30 orders from the USA.
Cosmos microlights established new records for altitude, speed and
distances covered without refuelling. At competitive level, Cosmos won
the French, European and World Championships! Cosmos flying craft have
had many imitators but thanks to an unceasing policy of innovation we
have always managed to keep one step ahead of the competition.
In the year 2000, after a development stage lasting three years, Cosmos
launched production of a multi-axis microlight featuring folding wings
and made of composite materials: the Helios.
Cosmos is well known for its insistence on testing its microlights in
the most demanding situations and in all weather conditions.
The Cosmos team is made up of a highly qualified staff pursuing three
main objectives: Safety - Service - Innovation.

Polaris Motor - Manufactures ultralights including a flying inflatable
boat and accessories.
Polaris SRL was founded in 1982 by a group of hang-glider pilots under
the direction of Doi Malingri, a well known Italian ocean racer, pilot
and writer.
The small company located in the most popular site for hang-gliding in
central Italy, Monte Cucco, became soon one of the leading
manufacturers in Europe, with more than 1000 wings produced per year.
In 1985 Polaris opened the motor division : Polaris Motor srl, to serve
the growing up market of motorized hang-gliders (weight shift
ultralights). This section started with the production of reinforced
wings for trikes powered by two stroke engines, produced, until this
moment in Italy, only by small artisans, or self constructors .
Polaris Motor decide soon to start a chain production of the complete
machine, confident that this type of microlight would have an
incredible diffusion, thanks to the simplicity of the construction, the
facility of piloting, the short area required for take off and landing,
and the very low stall speed.
Naturally it's easy to understand that this type of microlight
(actually more popular with the name of " Trike") is also very safe,
and for sure the cheapest machine that flies! This are the reasons why
Polaris Motor always believed in this machine, and has developed and
improved year after year, quality, safety, performances and
functionality of its trikes and wings. Since 1986 Polaris Motor has
sold an average of 80-100 trikes and 200 wings per year. Naturally all
Polaris wings can be easily installed in other brands of trikes, with
the possibility of personalization.
The Company purpose is to cover all the uses requested for a
microlight: training, fun, work, versatility, long rides and
adventures.
