heavily based on their conventional aircraft.
Diamond Aircraft Industries is a worldwide operating composite aircraft
manufacturer with offices in major centers across North America,
Europe, Japan, England, Austria, South Africa and Australia. There are
two production facilities: one located in Wiener Neustadt, Austria,
where head office, research and development operations are conducted,
and one in London, Ontario, Canada. At both facilities innovative
aircraft solutions, of the highest level and quality are produced for
flight schools and private operators.
The company employs over 400 people, and has already produced over
2,400 aircraft. Diamond Aircraft Industries (Canada) is the largest
general aviation manufacturer of single engine aircraft in Canada, and
the third largest in North America. Diamond Aircraft Austria is
approved as a Design Organization (DOA) under JAA-JAR 21 Subp. JA and
is therefore authorized to develop internationally accepted aircraft
design and the production is an international approved Production
Organization (POA) under JAA-JAR 21 Subp. G.
Diamond Aircraft Canada holds Canadian Manufacturing Approval. Known as
an international specialist for composite technology, Diamond Aircraft
Industries is actively involved in many areas of material research,
development and application. The company's expertise in advanced

Eta Aircraft - Designers and manufacturers of a 30.9m wingspan
sailplane.
The Greek letter h (eta) means efficiency in the technical world.
Efficiency is the most important factor for the utilization of energy.
For a sailplane efficiency is of utmost importance, to climb in weak
thermals and to glide a long distance from the achieved altitude. It
was the goal of the project eta to develop and take advantage of all
suitable techniques to improve efficiency.
As a name for a sailplane, eta means uncompromising use of the most
modern design methods, materials and manufacturing tools, to achieve
the highest possible increase in sailplane performance.
Beside the optimization of performance, our attention was directed to
eta´s handling qualities as well. A very small proprtion of the
performance increase in level flight was sacrificed for easy circling
characteristics. Good handling qualities lead directly to improved
pilot efficiency. It should be possible for a pilot of average skill to
enjoy extraordinarily long cross country flights with eta.
The design bureau Flugtechnik & Leichtbau, under the direction of Dr.
Reiner Kickert at the Research Airport Braunschweig, has been
commissioned by the famous contest-winning and record-breaking pilots
Erwin Müller, Hans-Werner Große, Hartmut Lodes, Dr. Jan Krüger, Bruno
Gantenbrink and Umberto Mantica to develop a sailplane of extreme
dimensions:
Wing span: 30.90 m (101.38 ft)
Aspect ratio: 51.33
Max. mass: certification 850kg (1873.9 lb), design 950 kg (2094.4 lb)
Double seater
Self launch capability with SOLO engine
The aircraft are being produced by highly reputed German companies:
Fuselage, spar caps of the wing structure, final assembly:
Walter Binder Flugmotorenbau, Ostheim/Rhön
Wing:
Schmidt&Schatz, Roßwälden
Control system:
Wolf-Hirth GmbH, Kirchheim/Teck.

Gomolzig Flugzeugbau GmbH - Manufacturers of the Calif (previously made
by Caproni).
In 1952 the Gomolzig company was founded as an engineering office with
8 employees. As soon as soaring was allowed again in 1954 in Germany
our company started with the production of the glider M? 13E and Grunau
Baby V. Later on the prototype construction of the RW-3, a single
engined cruising plane, retractable three leg landing gear and a
porsche engine positioned in the back of the cabine with the propeller
installed inside the rudder driven by shaft.
At the beginning of the seventies Gomolzig designed, developed and
manufactured the cabin of the WDL airship and four units were produced.
The approvment as a aeronautical engineering company of production and
reconditioning by LBA took place at this point of time. In cooperation
with Rhein-Flugzeugbau we worked at Sirius I and II projects and
proceeded test-flights with ducted fans on a Blanik and Calif.
Due to noise problems coming up at our "own" airfield the Gomolzig
company developed in 1973 a modified silencing exhaust system on a
Cessna FR 172. The "Quietflight" system was born and further installed
to Remorqueuer-DR 400 and PA 18. In 1977 Peter Gomolzig recieved his
test-pilot-licens.
With the help of Gomolzig company Rhein-Flugzeugbau developed the
Fantrainer in 1978. It has been our part to develop and produce an
retractable three leg landing gear, pilotseats and several components.
About 50 units of each had been produced. Another examiner with classes
1 to 4 entered the comany in 1979. In 1982 the name Gomolzig
engineering office was changend into Gomolzig Flugzeug- und
Maschinenbau GmbH.
In 1988 another three improved units of airship cabines were produced.
In 1989 the german regulations of airplanes-noise-emmission were
published by LBA. As a result of this discussions about silencing-
exhaust-systems increased and Gomolzigs existing knowledge about
silencer design was well needed. This area became one of the most
important working fields in our company 1994 Gomolzig company got into
contact with Extra Flugzeugbau Dinslaken and they engaged Gomolzig to
design, develop and produce a retractable undercarriage for the new
six-seater-cruising plane EA 400. Besides this two metal-gliders Calif
A 21S were manufactured.
In 1995 Gomolzig Flugzeug-und Maschinenbau GmbH got the certification
of JAR 145, a sign for a high grade of quality in engineering and
manufacturing. The LBA approval for an aeronatical-development company
is applied and will be recieved hopefully at the end of 1996.
Since the middle of the sixties the structural repair of metal-cells
for gliders as well as airplanes increases up to nowadays. Camera
modification is a special part of this area.
Since 1990 Gomolzig is in contact with Eurowings General Aviation and
sharing maintanance and repair in the hangar at Dortmund airport.
During all that development the Gomolzig company had been a competent
partner for general aviation and associations -in our company pilots
work for pilots needs. Due to the membership of several employees to
local associations and clubs we always help and add the associations in
workshops and projects they can not fullfill on their own.
